Brooks has been playing in the YMCA basketball league this summer and is loving it. We are a little biased, but I think this kid has potential! (Bruce Pearl, if you're reading this...call me!) This is a 3/4 year old team, so the games are about as exciting as you would imagine! They are fun to watch, though, and Brooks is having a great time. Here are a few shots of Brooks in action. If you would like an autographed copy, just let us know.

Joe P. Rally Run
Since we have many friends in or around Nashville, I thought I would post this email that I recieved from a friend and fellow VOL regarding a 5K in honor of her nephew. Many of you may remember a while back that I requested prayer for a young boy named Joseph Peabody. His parents and aunts attended UT with Jay and I and he finally went to be with his Heavenly Father last year. There is a race in memory of Joe that will benefit research for children with similar diseases. If any of you are in the area and would like to run, check out the website! If you'd just like to donate financially, you can do that too! Thanks! Here is her message...
"Hi everyone!
I wanted to invite you to register to run or donate to the 5K run that is being held this October 31st in memory of my nephew, Joseph Peabody. This run will take place in Nashville and will raise money to benefit pediatric cancer research, specifically brain tumor research. Joseph was diagnosed in November of 2007 with a Glioblastoma Multiforme brain tumor, located in his cerebellum and brain stem. After several brain surgeries, radiation, and clinical trial chemotherapy, Joseph died on August 21st, 2008, the day after his 4th birthday.
All money raised will go to the Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research which funds better treatments with fewer long-side effects and cures for childhood cancers.
Register or donate now at:

I appreciate your support, prayers and thoughts,
Jennifer

Family Time
Sorry for being absent for a few weeks. In my last post I mentioned that Jay was headed to Tennessee to visit his Grandfather who was sick. Jay made it in time to spend one last night with Papaw before he passed away on June 27th. Papaw will be greatly missed, and we are so thankful that Jay was able to be with him and the rest of the family during this time. Miles and I were able to join him in Tennessee for the memorial services before meeting back up with Elle and Brooks in South Carolina with my family for the week of the 4th.
We had a wonderful vacation at Kiawah with my parents, sister, and her family. My nephew, Easton is so much fun to be around and he and Elle and Brooks are becoming great friends! In September, Libba will be having a friend for Miles! Poor Elle will be surrounded by 4 little boys on my side of the family. Thankfully she will always have her cousin Lila! Here is a glimpse of our family vacation...
We are now home for the remainder of the summer and are trying to get organized and rested before school starts back in August. I am pleased to announce that I have found a job, and even more pleased to announce that it is as the Speech Pathologist at Elle's school! It will be so nice to have the same schedule as the kids. A good friend of ours is going to take care of the boys while I work. This is such a blessing to me. I know the boys will be in good hands, and will have a great year while Elle and I are at school/work!
